TU Hemingway Chapter October meeting travels to backwoods Maine
This month’s meeting of the Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited will explore the rich history of Maine’s fishing camps. These evolved in the 1800s as family-run operations, serving sportsman from Boston and New York. They offered a true wilderness setting without foregoing the comforts of home. Home-cooked meals, certified guides, rustic cabins and canoes to explore the waters of the north woods were all part of the experience. There are still 52 of these camps operating in Maine, and fishing guide Bob Knoebel will provide a window to this world. The meeting will be held at the Roosevelt Grille in Ketchum from 5 - 7 p.m. Admission is free and there will be a raffle. For more information, call 622-4613.
